CNN Under Fire: Trump Admin Threatens Probe Over ‘Fraudulent’ Iran Report

President Donald Trump has launched a blistering attack on CNN, accusing the network of airing a “fraudulent” report regarding Iran’s reaction to his recent decision to delay a ceasefire deadline. At the heart of the dispute is a claim stating that Tehran had declared a “great victory” following the President’s announcement.

Trump immediately fired back, demanding a full retraction and threatening a formal investigation into the network. He alleged that the statement was tied to a “Fake News site” and was published with the full knowledge that it was incorrect.

In a follow-up statement, the President expanded his criticism to include outside parties he claims are interfering in diplomatic efforts. “Numerous Agreements, Lists, and Letters are being sent out by people that have absolutely nothing to do with the U.S.A. / Iran Negotiation,” Trump stated, labeling these individuals as “Fraudsters, Charlatans, and WORSE.”

He noted that there is only one group of “meaningful POINTS” acceptable to the U.S., which are being discussed behind closed doors.

Comparing the situation to the recent broadcast, he added, “It’s very much like Fake News CNN last night, headlining a ‘source’ that had no power or authority to write a Letter claiming great authority.”

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr weighed in on the matter, siding with the White House. Carr called for “accountability” and suggested that “change” is needed at CNN to address what he described as “outrageous conduct” and the promotion of a “hoax headline.”

CNN has stood by its coverage, maintaining that the information was not fabricated. The network stated the report was based on specific details obtained from Iranian officials and was corroborated by several Iranian state media outlets.

While the administration has singled out CNN, other major outlets, including The New York Times, also published similar reports citing rhetoric from Iran’s National Security Council.

The fallout has sparked a wider debate across U.S. cable news networks regarding whether the current diplomatic shift represents a strategic win for Washington or a propaganda victory for Tehran.
