SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. – A collision involving a motor vehicle and a bicyclist resulted in a fatality on Siesta Key early Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 1:22 p.m. at 514 Beach Road, near the entrance to Beach Access 9.
Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene to assist the Florida Highway Patrol with traffic control and initial emergency measures. According to official reports, the bicyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Medical personnel later pronounced the individual deceased.

The Florida Highway Patrol has assumed the role of primary investigative agency for the crash. While Beach Road remains open for general travel, the specific entrance to Beach Access 9 has been closed to the public to allow investigators to process the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the individuals involved or provided details regarding the circumstances leading up to the impact. The investigation into the cause of the crash is currently ongoing.
