RUSKIN, Fla. – A late-morning crash in Hillsborough County has claimed the life of an 89-year-old man following a two-vehicle collision on US-41.
According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 11:15 AM on April 12, 2026. An 89-year-old man from Apollo Beach was driving a Kia Soul and attempting to exit a gas station located on the east side of US-41, just south of 4th Street South.
As the driver of the Kia Soul attempted to make a left turn, he moved directly into the path of a northbound Hyundai Tucson.
The Hyundai, driven by a 78-year-old man from Ruskin, struck the Kia Soul with enough force to cause the Kia to overturn. The Hyundai rotated following the impact, eventually coming to a stop in the center median.
