A couple of weeks ago, as the U.S. Supreme Court took up the weighty issue of whether the Biden administration could force employers to jab their workers against their will, Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus was focused laser-like on a sidebar.
“Where,” the headline over her column asked, “was Justice Neil Gorsuch’s mask?”
Now, with President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate thoroughly pounded by a 6-3 vote to reject the plan, it seems Gorsuch’s decision to go maskless is all the liberal media can talk about.
It is such because liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who was a gusher of COVID-19 misinformation during the hearing of the vaccine mandate, refuses to attend court debates in person.
Because of seniority, Sotomayor is forced to sit next to Gorsuch, one of President Donald Trump’s appointees. She’s fearful of that because she checks three of COVID’s prime risk boxes: she is 67, overweight, and a diabetic.
Yahoo News reported that all nine Supreme Court justices are vaxxed and boosted against the coronavirus.
This means Sotomayor undermines her own argument, made when she voted with the minority in support of Biden’s plan to force needles into the arms of those who may hesitate, either because of natural immunity, religious doubt, or simple I-don’t-want-to-ism.
Still, like the Post’s Marcus, NPR’s Nina Tottenberg, who on Tuesday broke the story of Sotomayor’s self-imposed exile, noted it was “pretty jarring earlier this month” when Gorsuch’s naked face peered out from the bench.
Gorsuch, who is considerably younger than Sotomayor, did so even though Chief Justice John Roberts had requested all justices wear a mask out of respect for Sotomayor.
Yet PJ Media columnist Megan Fox on Tuesday sliced right into the heart of the matter.
“The usual sources of outrage are all at twitter over the fact that Justice Sotomayor isn’t a queen with the authority to demand that other justices wear face gags at her behest. Apparently, the overweight and diabetic Sotomayor wants everyone around her to take extra precautions to care for her after she didn’t care for herself, which puts her in a higher risk category for COVID complications,” Fox wrote.
Noting that some liberal journalists are calling Gorsuch’s mask reluctance “absolutely shameful,” Fox added, “Anyone at this point, when there are vaccines and therapeutics available to deal with COVID, who is still demanding that you [emphasis original] do something to keep them [emphasis original] safe should be given a hard ‘no.’”
“Justice Gorsuch has done just that and is refusing to wear a mask. Good. Let the hypochondriacs live a life confined inside, alone, separated from all society, and ordering from Grubhub. The rest of us have things to do.”
In an update to this story, on Wednesday @scotusblog tweeted out, “Reporting that Justice Sotomayor asked Justice Gorsuch to wear a mask surprised us. It is false. While we may sometimes disagree about the law, we are warm colleagues and friends.”

Sotomayor is diabetic, achieved in voluntarily, won’t work to heal herself, and is a bigger threat to public safety than any virus. Don’t let her come any where near children. She has a compromised immune system and might be carrying some very lethal bugs. Her deplorable state of health also compromises her ability to think so she should resign immediately before she screws up a case. Get her put of the USA ASAP by ny means necessary. FJB.
