Brian Sicknick

Conservative Legal Group Sues To Get Sicknick Autopsy

In the last three months, there have been two attacks at the U.S. Capitol.

The first, in January, by mostly white supporters of former President Donald Trump, was heralded by Democrats and their liberal media allies as “sedition,” “insurrection” and the death knell of the republic.

The second, last week, by a black supporter of the radical Nation of Islam’s Louis Farrakhan disappeared from the headlines almost as quickly as it happened.

But the two incidents share something: each attack is blamed for the death of one U.S. Capitol Police officer.

In last week’s attack, the outcome was clear. Officer William Evans died after being plowed by a car driven by suspect Noah Green, who was shot and killed at the scene.

Yet three months after the alleged “insurrection,” we’re still not being told what killed Officer Brian Sicknick.

What we do know is that the media, ever so quietly, has revised its original narrative: that Sicknick was killed by an unidentified fire extinguisher-wielding maniac.

Now, the conservative group Judicial Watch is suing the District of Columbia government in an effort to pry loose the details of Sicknick’s still-secret autopsy.

In court records filed on March 19, Judicial Watch notes that it filed a Freedom of Information Act with D.C.’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner seeking “All records, including but not limited to autopsy reports, toxicology reports, notes, photographs, and OCME officials’ electronic communications, related to the death on Jan. 6, 2021 of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick and its related investigation.”

That was on Feb. 16. The request was denied two days later.

Judicial Watch appealed the denial the same day, and neither the medical examiner nor the mayor, who had 10 days to issue a ruling, has provided an answer on the appeal as of Wednesday.

Writing at Breitbart News on Wednesday, Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton noted, “The unusual and unlawful secrecy about Officer Sicknick’s death investigation undermines public confidence in the fair administration of justice.”

Fitton pointed out that his group has also sued the Capitol Police and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office for records and video related to the riot.

“It will be particularly interesting to see if any politicians such as Nancy Pelosi or other outside officials communicated with the medical examiner’s office about Officer Sicknick,” Fitton added.
