PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit arrested a Clearwater man on Tuesday following an investigation into an inappropriate relationship with a teenage girl. Reginald Seay, 39, was taken into custody at his residence on Sunset Point Road and charged with one count of Harmful Communication to a Minor.
According to investigators, Seay served as a volunteer football coach with the Tarpon Springs Jr. Spongers. He originally met the victim at the football field when she was 13 years old.
Detectives uncovered a three-month texting relationship between Seay and the victim, who is now 14 years old. Investigative findings revealed that Seay sent the teenager sexually explicit text messages and exposed his genitalia to her during a FaceTime video call.
Throughout the communication, Seay directed the minor to delete their text history on multiple occasions. According to the police report, Seay explicitly stated to the victim that their conversations “could put him in jail.”
Following his arrest on June 30, 2026, Seay was transported to the Sheriff’s Administration Building on Ulmerton Road in Largo. During an interview with detectives, Seay admitted to the allegations.
Seay was subsequently booked into the Pinellas County Jail. A booking photograph was not immediately available at the time of the police release.
