WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A crash on Highway 17 in Winter Haven has caused road closures and traffic signal outages, impacting drivers in the area.
The crash occurred early Friday at the intersection of Highway 17 and Mirror Terrace. A vehicle struck a power pole, causing it to fall and bring down power lines across the roadway.
Highway 17 is currently closed from Avenue M NW to Havendale Boulevard until further notice.

The downed power lines have also caused outages to traffic signals at the following intersections:
- Havendale Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
- Highway 17 at Mirror Terrace
- First Street N and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
Crews are working to install generators to restore power to the traffic signals. In the meantime, drivers are urged to use caution and treat any intersections with non-working signals as a four-way stop.
