CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. — A 57-year-old Crystal River man died Monday night after his pickup truck left the roadway and struck a concrete utility pole, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say that the fatal crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. along West Orange Tree Street.
Investigators say the man was driving a Dodge Ram westbound when he approached the intersection near North Hidden Oaks Way. While traveling along that stretch of road, the driver failed to negotiate a curve, sending the truck off the roadway and into the concrete power pole.
Emergency responders pronounced the driver dead at the scene from his injuries.
Authorities have not released the driver’s identity pending notification of the next of kin. The Florida Highway Patrol has not reported any other vehicles or passengers involved in the incident.
