Crystal River Woman Killed In Violent Collision With Dump Truck In Citrus County

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A tragic intersection accident on Thursday afternoon claimed the life of a Crystal River woman after her vehicle collided with a dump truck and overturned.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 2:10 p.m. on May 14. A 75-year-old woman from Crystal River was traveling northbound on North Ocoee Terrace in a Kia Soul. At the same time, a 64-year-old Dunnellon man was driving a dump truck eastbound on West Dunnellon Road.

State troopers report that as the Kia Soul reached the intersection, the driver attempted to turn left, placing her vehicle directly in the path of the oncoming dump truck. The resulting impact was severe enough to cause both the Kia and the heavy truck to rotate and flip over.
