Cyber-Tip Leads To Raid And Arrest Of Brooksville Man On Child Exploitation Charges

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A Brooksville man is behind bars following a federal cyber-tip that sparked a local investigation into the possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

The case began on Feb. 23, 2026, when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a report regarding the illicit material. The information was forwarded to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, where detectives launched an investigation and ultimately developed enough probable cause to secure an arrest warrant for 36-year-old Jildardo Reofrio.

Law enforcement officers descended on a residence along Inwood Circle in Brooksville on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, to execute a search warrant. Upon entering the home, authorities made contact with Reofrio. According to investigators, Reofrio confirmed that the phone number, email address, and username linked to the social media account holding the explicit material belonged to him.

Detectives seized several electronic devices from the home during the raid. Those items are currently scheduled to undergo a thorough digital forensic analysis as the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Following the search, Reofrio was taken into custody and transported to the Hernando County Detention Center. He faces two counts of possession of child pornography, for which he is being held on no bond, and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device, which carries a $5,000 bond.

Commenting on the agency’s stance on these offenses, Sheriff Al Nienhuis stated, “Any and all tips are, and will be, meticulously investigated, no stone will be left unturned. Any person who possesses material of this nature will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Authorities are asking anyone with additional information regarding this case to contact Hernando County Crime Stoppers. Tipsters can remain completely anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000. Crime Stoppers can be reached by phone at 1-866-990-TIPS (8477), by dialing TIPS from a mobile device, or online at www.hernandocountycrimestoppers.com.
