DADE CITY, Fla. – Drivers in Dade City need to be aware of a significant change to the traffic pattern as the second roundabout associated with the US 98 Bypass widening project partially opened early this morning, ushering in the next phase of construction.

The new configuration at the intersection of US 98 / US 301 / 7th Street opened around 2 a.m. today, allowing specific traffic movements to pass through the new roundabout.

According to FDOT, the following are now directed through the new circular intersection:

  • Southbound 7th Street to southbound US 98/US 301.
  • Southbound US 98 Bypass to northbound 7th Street.
  • Southbound US 98 Bypass to southbound US 98/US 301.

Traffic traveling southbound on the US 98 Bypass is now directed through the roundabout to continue south on US 98 / US 301. However, vehicles heading northbound on US 98/US 301 will temporarily continue on the previous alignment, operating just outside the new roundabout.

With this partial opening, construction is now moving into Phase 2. Officials are working to open all traffic movements through this second roundabout by mid-December.

Motorists are advised to use caution, reduce speed, and remain alert to the new signage and lane adjustments as they navigate the evolving intersection. This is the second roundabout to open as part of the broader US 98 Bypass widening and improvement effort.
