Guests aboard the cruise vessel Scenic Eclipse witnessed a total solar eclipse on August 12 while positioned off the coast of East Greenland.
The celestial event occurred as the moon passed directly between the Earth and the sun, darkening the sky over the region. The moment was documented through photographs and video captured by the ship’s videographer, Tino Raimondi.
The eclipse occurred during a 15-day “Wonders of the High Arctic: Greenland & Iceland” itinerary that departs from Oslo and finishes in Reykjavik.
Throughout the event, members of the ship’s expedition team provided commentary and scientific context for the passengers on board.
The August 12 path of totality extended across regions of the Arctic and North Atlantic, with full coverage visible from parts of Greenland, Iceland, and northern Spain.
The vessel is scheduled to continue navigating along the East Greenland coast before completing its voyage in Reykjavik on August 18.
