POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 19-year-old Davenport man was arrested Wednesday night following a traffic stop and a hit-and-run incident in the Davenport/Four Corners area, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
At approximately 9:05 p.m. on July 22, 2026, a deputy pulled over a black Mercedes on U.S. 27 at Sand Mine Road after the driver reportedly used a turn lane to bypass stopped traffic and ran a red light.
Deputies identified the driver as Izaiah Patrick Allen. According to reports, Allen exited the vehicle immediately upon being stopped and exhibited nervous behavior.
Moments later, the victim of a traffic crash pulled up to the scene of the traffic stop. Authorities determined Allen had struck the victim’s vehicle approximately 2.5 miles away and fled the scene prior to being stopped by the deputy. The victim had been following the Mercedes after the collision.
Deputies noted tire marks, scrapes, and paint transfer on the driver’s side doors of Allen’s Mercedes. Allen told law enforcement he did not realize he had hit another vehicle because he was not paying attention and was listening to loud music.
Allen was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a traffic crash, a second-degree misdemeanor, and reckless driving, also a second-degree misdemeanor. He was additionally cited for failing to stop for a red light, and his vehicle was impounded.
Sheriff’s office records indicate Allen was previously arrested in Polk County in February 2025 for street racing. That charge was later reduced to reckless driving, with adjudication withheld.
