HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A 23-year-old Davenport woman tragically lost her life Friday night after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 4. The incident occurred west of State Road 39 around 8:45 pm.
Troopers say the woman had pulled her Dodge pickup truck onto the shoulder of the highway after her cell phone fell out of the vehicle.

While searching for her phone along the shoulder, she stepped into the roadway and was hit by an eastbound Hyundai Elantra driven by a 34-year-old Brandon woman.
Sadly, the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The driver of the Elantra was unharmed in the accident.
