TAMPA, Fla. – Voters for the City of Tampa’s special municipal runoff election have until the end of today, September 29, to register or update their information. The runoff is being held to fill the vacant City Council Member seat for District 5.

Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Craig Latimer issued an important reminder that only registered voters residing within Tampa’s District 5 are eligible to participate in the upcoming election.

Last Chance to Register

Those who need to register to vote in Florida or update their name or address can do so online at RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov or by visiting an elections office to complete a paper application. If you are already a registered Florida voter, you can update your details at any time before casting your ballot.

Runoff Election Key Dates and Options

Supervisor Latimer also outlined the three ways District 5 residents can cast their ballot for the October 28 runoff:

  • Vote By Mail: Requests for a mail-in ballot must be made by 5 p.m. on October 16. Requests can be submitted online at VoteHillsborough.gov or by calling (813) 744-5900.
  • Early Voting: In-person early voting will be available at four locations from Thursday, October 23, through Sunday, October 26, with hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Voters can choose any of these sites: C. Blythe Andrews, Jr. Public Library; Fred B. Karl County Center; Robert L. Gilder Elections Service Center; or the West Tampa Branch Library.
  • Election Day: The final opportunity to vote is on Tuesday, October 28, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters must cast their ballot at the specific polling place assigned to their precinct. A precinct finder is available on the elections website to help voters locate their Election Day site.
