Deadly Confrontation In Pennsylvania Lowe’s Parking Lot Ends With Man Shot In Front Of Child

A 32-year-old woman is behind bars after police say she tracked down her ex-girlfriend and shot her new partner to death in a crowded Pennsylvania store parking lot, all right in front of a nine-year-old child.

The shooting happened on Monday morning at the Lowe’s home improvement store on Glimcher Boulevard in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. According to police records, Taneesha Lynn Teague followed her former girlfriend and the woman’s young daughter to the location. Court documents reveal that while Teague and her ex-girlfriend had broken up about a month prior, the two women were still living together at the time.

The ex-girlfriend had traveled to Lowe’s to meet up with a man, 36-year-old Salim Basalat. Investigators note that Teague was ‘deeply upset’ about the meeting. When Teague drove into the parking lot, she spotted Basalat standing outside his vehicle, talking with the ex-girlfriend and her daughter.

According to the criminal complaint, Teague walked up to the group and opened fire, shooting Basalat in the stomach and the arm. During a frantic 911 call made from the scene, dispatchers could hear a woman’s voice screaming in the background, warning someone else to move away or they would die too.

Teague fled the area immediately after the gunfire. Emergency responders arrived to find Basalat severely injured, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital. He survived through the night but was pronounced dead on Tuesday morning.

Police quickly launched a search and discovered Teague’s white Nissan work van abandoned in the parking lot of a nearby restaurant. Following a public alert by the Hermitage Police Department stating that she was wanted for the shooting, Teague turned herself in to authorities later on Tuesday.

Court records show that Teague has been formally charged with first-degree murder, criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and three counts of recklessly endangering another person. Her preliminary arraignment was scheduled for today.
