ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Police are investigating in South St. Pete tonight after a shooting broke out earlier this evening.
Detectives are currently working a crime scene on the 900 block of 22nd Lane South. According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, the trouble started just before sunset. The call came in at 6:38 p.m., saying that shots had been fired.
When officers arrived, they found two victims.
Police confirmed that one man died right at the scene. A second man, identified only as 35 years old, was rushed to a local hospital. He is currently listed in critical condition with severe injuries.

The investigation is just getting started, and officers are still in the area gathering evidence. Police have not released the name of the deceased man yet, and no details have been shared about what might have led up to the shooting.
