One person is dead and six others are injured following a shooting that erupted during homecoming celebrations at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania late Saturday night.

Gunfire broke out around 9:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, Oct. 25, outside the International Cultural Center, where a post-game celebration was taking place, according to authorities. Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe described the aftermath as “a chaotic scene” and people “fled in every direction.”

One of the seven victims struck by gunfire has died.

A suspect has been detained after being found with a gun, though no charges have been announced. Barrena-Sarobe indicated a “likely possibility” of more than one shooter, but added that the incident does not appear to have been a planned attack.

Authorities are investigating with federal, state, and local law enforcement. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro has offered his administration’s “full support.” The university is offering counseling services for students and staff starting Sunday. Authorities do not believe there is an active threat to the campus.
