Democratic strategist Michael LaRosa delivered a sharp rebuke of his own party’s rhetorical tactics on Friday, arguing on Fox News that the relentless use of “extreme rhetoric” and “hyperbole” is causing voters to tune out and costing the party support.

Appearing on “The Ingraham Angle,” LaRosa was asked to address the aggressive language used by Hunter Biden during his recent appearance on the “Wide Awake Podcast,” where the younger Biden directed harsh comments toward journalist Miranda Devine, calling her “hideous inside and out” and implying her death would go unnoticed.

LaRosa, however, broadened the scope of the issue beyond just the former President’s son.

“My party has been out of control with the hyperbole, the aggressive rhetoric, the Nazis, the fascists, the autocrats, all this stuff,” LaRosa told guest host Jason Chaffetz. “Voters are now tuning out, and they’re not even listening to the Democrats anymore because of the alarmism, because of the hyperbole.”

LaRosa pushed back on Hunter Biden’s claim that he was “speaking truth to power” and urging Democrats to “turn the temperature up” on “MAGA pundits” whom he accuses of “parroting verifiable lies.”

“But I don’t agree, and I don’t condone all of this rhetoric because if everybody’s fascists, if everybody’s Nazis, no one is. And that’s where my party has gone, and we’ve got to stop,” LaRosa stated firmly.

He emphasized that this strategy is a “disservice to history and to the people who actually suffered under dictatorships and Nazis and things like that.”

The strategist concluded that Democrats are losing the ability to persuade voters because they have relied too heavily on inflammatory language instead of reasoned argument.

The political climate has seen an escalation in harsh rhetoric from both sides. This includes former Vice President Kamala Harris labeling President Donald Trump a fascist and the former President Joe Biden stating that Trump should be “locked up.” The heated environment has coincided with a tense year, which included two separate reported assassination attempts targeting President Trump—one in July and another in September.
