An encounter in Fort Lauderdale uncovered a staggering amount of narcotics concealed in an unlikely package: a bright yellow “Sesame Street” style school bus.
Guillermo Higuera German, a 37-year-old Mexican national, appeared in federal court on November 17 following the discovery of approximately five kilograms of fentanyl pills hidden inside the toy.
According to the complaint affidavit, the bust began when officers approached a vehicle driven by Higuera German. During the stop, a narcotics K-9 performed an open-air sniff and quickly alerted officers to the presence of drugs.
A search of the vehicle revealed several boxes and the child’s toy bus. Inside, investigators found more than 50,000 fentanyl pills packed tightly within the plastic casing.

Authorities stated that further investigation into Higuera German’s background revealed he was in the United States illegally. Records indicate he has been deported from the U.S. on five previous occasions. He is now subject to removal proceedings once again.
The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones for the Southern District of Florida and Special Agent in Charge Deanne L. Reuter of the DEA Miami Field Division.
The case remains under investigation by the DEA Miami Field Division and the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, with U.S. Customs and Border Protection assisting regarding potential immigration offenses.
