HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A chaotic three-car crash early Saturday morning has left one woman dead and three others in the hospital. The tragic accident happened around 12:30 a.m. on US-301, just north of Jackson Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash began when a Chevy Camaro crossed into the wrong lane.
The Camaro, driven by a 22-year-old woman from Brandon, was heading north on US-301. For reasons investigators are still looking into, she drifted over the center line and slammed nearly head-on into a GMC Terrain coming the other way.
The force of the crash sent the Camaro spinning back into the northbound lane, while the SUV, driven by a 64-year-old man from New York, spun off the road. Moments later, a third car—a Toyota Camry driven by a 31-year-old man from Ruskin—crashed into the Camaro.
A Rescue Amid the Flames
The situation turned critical when the GMC Terrain caught fire. Hillsborough County deputies arrived quickly and rushed to the burning SUV. They were able to pull the driver out to safety.

The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating why the first car crossed the center line. They are asking anyone who saw the crash to please call *FHP (*347).
