The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating an individual who may have witnessed a deadly shooting outside a gas station in Tampa.

On Sunday, April 18, 2021, at approximately 11:00 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 7-Eleven gas station, located on the corner of Memorial Highway and George Road, where a verbal altercation between two individuals led to a deadly shooting. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an adult male victim on the ground on George Road. Deputies attempted to perform life-saving measures as they waited for paramedics to arrive. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital Main where he passed away from his injuries.

Detectives are learning a verbal altercation broke out between the 20-year-old victim and an unknown suspect outside the convenience store. Shortly after, the victim returned to his vehicle and drove out of the parking lot onto George Road. The unknown suspect followed the victim’s vehicle and pulled up next to it, before the suspect fired multiple shots toward the victim.

“Surveillance video shows a Hispanic male, driving a white Mini Cooper, come in contact with the victim outside the gas station, before entering the convenience store to make a purchase,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Detectives would like to talk to this individual about what he may have seen and are asking anyone who may know him, or who sees him, to please come forward.”

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at (813) 247-8200.
