DeSantis: With COVID, Florida Rejected ‘Fauci-ism’ And Is Much Better Off

It seems that Dr. Anthony Fauci was not too happy with Gov. Ron DeSantis. According to the treasure trove of Fauci emails about the pandemic, the nation’s supposed top infectious disease expert was aghast that the Florida Republican was ignoring his dictates.

On Thursday, DeSantis responded, explaining to Fox News host Laura Ingraham that “Fauci-ism” was not going to fly in the Sunshine State.

“In Florida, we chose freedom over Fauci-ism, and we’re much better off for doing that,” said DeSantis.

DeSantis told Ingraham that Fauci-ism was pretty clear-cut: “If you followed what he said, he said you did a good job.”

That’s why New York’s Gov. Andrew Cuomo was heralded as the COVID guru even has his policies led to the tragic deaths of thousands of senior citizens and Florida outperformed New York by almost every critical metric.

“I think his lockdown policies were not justified by the scientific data. He was somebody that fearmongered about schools, he did not support Florida when we had our kids in school in person. I think he was wrong about masks and asymptomatic spread,” DeSantis told Ingraham.

“And then obviously he does so many interviews that it was pretty clear to me after a pretty short time, this was all about himself and his own image. And for me, you look at that magazine cover with him lounging by the pool with the sunglasses on right in the midst of the pandemic. I mean, it was almost like a let-them-eat-cake moment for all the people who were chafing under his lockdowns, and yet he seemed to be having the time of his life.”

It may not be that way now, given that the emails showed Fauci was misleading the public on many aspects of the coronavirus – and since he’s facing calls to resign.

DeSantis told Ingraham that he, like almost all governors, since closely to Fauci in the early days of the pandemic. But, DeSantis, added, by April the data made it clear that Fauci was offering bad advice and clinging to suspect models about the progression of the virus.

DeSantis suggested even the Trump White House was concerned about Fauci being unleashed.

Still, he was “going out and literally doing every interview under the sun,” said DeSantis, and consequently “he ended up contradicting himself.”

“He was indulging hypotheticals. He ended up having to do political commentary sometimes because the media obviously wanted to use Fauci to attack people like me and other Republicans. … And so, I think he was way overexposed,” DeSantis added.

Well, that’s surely true now with the emails available for the whole world to see.

  1. ASS is not a strong enough emotion for how desantis handled Covid. We live in Fl and believe me when I say
    “The left hand didn’t know…”
    D. The Covid governor spent the entire time trying to cover his political ASS. He was and is a terrible governor. I pray he never gets elected for anything again.
Thank you Dr. Fauci. Without your wisdom and information millions more would have died.
