Despite August Bump, Polls Show Biden Approval Numbers Starting To Recede

The bump in the polls that President Joe Biden got during August, which liberals framed as his most successful month since taking office, has started to dissipate.

The bump in the polls that President Joe Biden got during August, which liberals framed as his most successful month since taking office, has started to dissipate.

A few recent public opinion polls suggest public approval of Biden has receded from just a few weeks ago.

For example, the conservative pollster Rasmussen Reports noted on Friday that its daily tracking of Biden’s approval rating stood at 42 percent.

Biden’s approval rating had not been that low in Rasmussen’s poll since Aug. 17, when he was also at 42 percent. He had, in fact, clawed up to as high as 47 over the past month before receding.

Rasmussen also noted that those who “strongly approve” of Biden’s performance was 20 percent. He recorded that twice last week. Before then, he had not been that low since July 26.

Real Clear Politics, which keeps a running tab on several leading public opinion polls on a daily basis, had Biden at 42.2 on Saturday. That was down slightly from his recent peak of 42.7 percent last Monday.

Meanwhile, in RCP’s poll, Biden’s disapproval rating has started to inch upward, as of Saturday.

Moreover, an Ipsos weekly poll released on Thursday pegged Biden at 39 percent for the second consecutive week. Biden had reached 41 percent in Ipsos’ poll on Aug. 23.

Ipsos also reported that Biden’s approval rating among independents had hit rock bottom, at just 25 percent.

On Sunday, FiveThirtyEight.com, which also aggregates multiple polls, had Biden at 42.2, which was down from 43 percent just two weeks ago.

Clearly, whatever wind Biden got in his sails after passing a couple of mammoth spending bills in August has died down, meaning we’re back to business as usual: Nearly 60 percent of Americans disapprove of this president, and even more believe the nation is on the wrong track.
