When the original Pokémon Snap released in 1999, it took the world by storm. Being able to photograph your favorite Pokémon in various poses as you ride an on-rails buggy was pretty neat, but then being to take your copy of Pokémon Snap into your local Blockbuster Video to get your photos printed out as stickers was mind-blowing, at least for the kids of the ‘90s.

Details and Trailer for New Pokémon Snap, Come Into Focus

When the original Pokémon Snap released in 1999, it took the world by storm. Being able to photograph your favorite Pokémon in various poses as you ride an on-rails buggy was pretty neat, but then being to take your copy of Pokémon Snap into your local Blockbuster Video to get your photos printed out as stickers was mind-blowing, at least for the kids of the ‘90s.

At the height of Pokémania, this new game gave players obsessed with the digital creatures a new way to experience their favorite franchise.

The tie-in with Blockbuster certainly helped its sales, as it went on to sell an excess of 1.5 million copies.

22 years later, Nintendo is bringing Pokémon Snap back in a big way, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.

In New Pokémon Snap, you take on the role of a photographer, trying to prove their worth by snapping pictures of the cute monsters on the islands of the Lental region.

With many different ecosystems, ranging from dense jungles to bone-dry deserts, there are plenty of Pokémon to discover and capture – on film, that is. The NEO-ONE is an auto-driving vehicle and your ticket to the adventures that await you in each area.

You’ll be working closely with Professor Mirror and his assistant, Rita, to photograph and catalog the elusive Pokémon in their natural habitats. Sometimes found alone or traveling in groups, depending on the species, there’s plenty of ways to interact with the creatures in order to get the best shot.

You could throw an item called a Fluffruit to entice a Pokémon’s attention towards your lens or perhaps catch them in action as they eat it.

Making every shot count in order to get a higher score is your goal, so you’ll want to be sure to have your camera ready and your item bag full in order to fill your Photodex with all kinds of pictures.

There will be plenty of Pokémon to snap and fun to be had when New Pokémon Snap releases on April 30th. Check out the trailer below.
