Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold is locked up without bond in a Florida jail following his arrest on several major felony charges. The 23-year-old player turned himself in to authorities at the Orient Road Jail on Wednesday night. He faces multiple counts of kidnapping, armed robbery, and conspiracy, which carry a potential life sentence.
The charges connect back to a February 4 incident at an apartment in Tampa. According to police reports, three men in their late teens were lured to the location, held at gunpoint, beaten, and robbed. Investigators say the attack was a planned retaliation coordinated by Arnold.
Just three days earlier, on February 1, Arnold reported that more than $250,000 in personal property was stolen from an Airbnb he was renting in Largo, Florida.
Police records indicate that Arnold believed the three victims were behind the theft. However, investigators have since stated that there is zero evidence linking the victims to the missing property. Authorities allege that Arnold’s friends carried out the physical assault while live-streaming it to Arnold over a video call, and that Arnold gave orders through a group chat before later driving to the apartment.
“No one has the right to take the law into their own hands,” Hillsborough County State Attorney Suzy Lopez said. “A dispute over missing property does not justify kidnapping, violence or retaliation. We will continue to pursue justice for the three victims by holding everyone accountable for their roles in this crime.”
Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw also spoke out on the high-profile arrest. “Fame doesn’t get you out of criminal charges or our pursuit of justice and holding criminals accountable,” Bercaw said.
Arnold appeared briefly in court by video on Thursday, where a judge ordered him held until a formal detention hearing on Monday. His defense attorney, R. Timothy Jansen, stated in court that Arnold completely denies the allegations.
Denise White, the CEO of EAG Sports Management, the agency representing Arnold, released a statement defending the cornerback. “Terrion Arnold categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations made against him and maintains his innocence,” White said. “There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations. Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences. Mr. Arnold looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the judicial process will lead to his ultimate vindication.”
Court records show that at least seven people face charges in connection with the February incident. Two women charged in the case have already pleaded guilty and agreed to assist prosecutors. One of them, 19-year-old Jasmine Randazzo, was immediately sentenced to four years in prison for kidnapping, conspiracy, and armed robbery.
Arnold was selected by the Detroit Lions in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama. He played 24 games over two seasons with the team, though his 2025 season was cut short due to injuries.
Both the NFL and the Detroit Lions acknowledged the arrest but declined to comment on the details of the ongoing case.
“We are aware of the legal situation regarding Terrion Arnold,” the Detroit Lions organization said in an official statement. “We will not comment at this time out of respect for the ongoing legal process.”
The league office mirrored that stance, stating, “We are aware of the matter and have been in contact with the club. We have no further comment at this time.”
