“Devil’s Army” U.S. Rep. Kinzinger Slammed By Family in a Letter

U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger is not battling with Republicans who stand behind former President Donald Trump, in a letter Kinzinger’s family says he has joined the “Devil’s Army.”

Kinzinger said he wanted to excise “Trumpism” from the Republican Party.

“I don’t care what you believe, as long as you believe it: you can be pro-life, pro-choice, pro-gun, anti-gun, right?” the Illinois Republican said.

“We’ve gotten into too many, you have to be this or this. I just want you to tell the American people the truth. And I want you to not peddle in conspiracies and use some optimism occasionally, that’s a pretty low bar, but it’s a low bar that eliminates a lot of people.”

Kinzinger was one of 10 Republicans to vote to impeach former President Donald Trump, and one of 11 Republicans to support stripping GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green of her committee assignments.

On January 7th, Kinzinger parted ways with the GOP by calling for the 25th Amendment to be used to remove Trump from office for his role in inciting the Capitol riots, Kinzinger’s cousin,Karen Otto, penned a letter to him the following day:

  • jan 8 letter
  • letter2
  • letter 3
  • letter 4

Kinzinger’s cousin, Karen Otto, said in an interview with the Times that she paid $7 to send it by certified mail to the lawmaker’s father. She also sent copies to members of Illinois’s congressional delegation.

“I wanted Adam to be shunned,” Otto told the newspaper.

On February 13, 2021, after the Senate voted to acquit Former Presdient Trump, Rep. Adam Kinzinger released this statement:

“Make no mistake, the damage being done to the state of our republic and the democratic values we hold dear is unacceptable. And the losses I’ll face pale in comparison to the stakes here. I am disappointed that the Senate was unwilling to hold former President Trump accountable for his actions. And I will be looking at alternate options to ensure responsibility and accountability so that what happened on January 6, 2021 will never happen again.

“We have a lot of work to do to restore the Republican Party and to turn the tide on the personality politics. For me, I am at total peace with my decision on impeachment and my mission to restore the GOP, to uphold the principles we hold dear, and firmly put the country first. Our future depends on it.”
