The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) today announced a significant series of arrests targeting “criminal illegal aliens” in Los Angeles, including individuals convicted of heinous offenses such as murder, pedophilia, and fentanyl trafficking.

The operations come amidst ongoing political debate and reported civil unrest in the city, with DHS officials emphasizing their commitment to public safety.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated that “Under the Trump Administration, 70% of illegal aliens arrested have been convicted or charged with a crime beyond illegally entering our country.”

She added, “As bad faith politicians attempt to demean and vilify our brave law enforcement, we will only double down and ramp up our enforcement actions against the worst of the worst criminals.”

The DHS release highlighted several individuals apprehended during the recent operations:

Juventino Acevedo Rodriguez, a registered sex offender from Mexico, was arrested after illegally reentering the U.S. following a prior removal. He was convicted of having oral sex with an unconscious victim.

Jesus Zamora-Lopez, a known MS-13 gang member from Mexico, was taken into custody. He has convictions for assault with a deadly weapon, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and petty theft, and had been ordered removed in 1997, reentering illegally at least twice since.

Juan Diego Euan, another registered sex offender from Mexico, was arrested for sexual penetration of a minor under the age of 16.

All arrested individuals remain in custody pending removal proceedings.
