The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has declared it will not comply with California’s new law, the “No Secret Police Act,” which bans most on-duty law enforcement, including federal agents, from wearing facial coverings.

In a statement, DHS called the law “unconstitutional” and asserted it dangerously compromises the safety of federal officers, citing a significant increase in assaults against ICE agents. The new state measure, intended to promote accountability and transparency, particularly following recent immigration raids by masked agents, is expected to set the stage for a legal showdown over state jurisdiction regarding federal operations.

Former FBI Director James Comey Indicted

In a major legal development, former FBI Director James Comey was indicted by a federal grand jury on two counts: making a false statement to Congress and obstruction of a congressional proceeding. The indictment, sought by U.S. prosecutors, is the latest action in what has been described as an effort by the current administration to prosecute political adversaries. Comey has denied the charges, vowing to fight them at trial.

Police Violence and ICE Shooting

The episode also addressed the rising tide of violence impacting law enforcement officers (LEO). Dr. Travis Yates joined the panel to discuss the stunning rise in political and LEO violence across the country. This conversation followed the tragic incident at an ICE detention facility in Dallas, where a suspect, later identified, opened fire from a nearby rooftop, killing two detainees and injuring a third before taking his own life.

Authorities are investigating the attack as an act of targeted violence, citing anti-ICE messages found on ammunition casings. The show also reviewed an incident where an officer fatally shot a suspect who charged toward them armed with scissors.
