DHS Reports Staggering 500% Increase In Assaults On ICE Agents, Blames Political Rhetoric

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced alarming new statistics on Friday, revealing a 500% surge in assaults against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents carrying out their enforcement operations.

This increase has prompted a strong condemnation from DHS, which attributes the rise in violence to the “vilification and demonization” of ICE officers by certain political figures.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin highlighted the immediate dangers faced by agents, citing a recent incident where “an ICE officer was dragged 50 yards by a car while arresting an illegal alien sex offender.” McLaughlin emphasized the daily risks taken by ICE personnel to “protect and defend the lives of American citizens.”

McLaughlin directly accused Democrat politicians, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, of contributing to the hostile environment. She criticized their rhetoric, which she said includes “comparisons to the modern-day Nazi Gestapo” and “glorifying rioters,” calling such language “despicable.” “This violence against ICE must end,” McLaughlin asserted.

The DHS release also brought to light a disturbing trend of ICE officers’ family members being “doxed and targeted.” The department issued a stern warning, stating that “Those who dox our ICE agents will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Secretary Noem’s message was unequivocal: “You will not stop us or slow us down. ICE and our federal law enforcement partners will continue to enforce the law. And if you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

The sharp rise in assaults underscores a growing tension surrounding immigration enforcement, with DHS firmly placing the blame on what it describes as inflammatory political discourse. The department vows to continue its operations and ensure the safety of its agents, promising severe legal repercussions for any attacks on federal law enforcement.
