Digital Counterstrike: White House Unveils ‘Hall Of Shame’ Website To Target Media Narratives

The Trump administration opened a new digital front in its ongoing conflict with the press on Friday, launching a dedicated section of the White House website designed to catalogue and critique what it characterizes as “fake news.”

Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, publicized the rollout on X, framing the initiative as an unprecedented effort in media transparency. “The Trump @WhiteHouse is holding the Fake News accountable like never before,” Leavitt wrote.

Upon its debut, the webpage flagged three major publications—CBS News, The Boston Globe, and The Independentas “Offenders of the Week.” The administration’s grievance centers on how these outlets covered President Trump’s reaction to a video released on Nov. 18 featuring six congressional Democrats, often referred to by critics as the “Seditious Six.”

In the video, the lawmakers, including Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin, urged military and intelligence personnel to disregard any “illegal” orders. The White House argues that the media distorted the President’s response to this footage. According to the new website, reporting falsely suggested Trump called for the “execution” of these members of Congress, when the administration insists he was calling for “accountability” regarding what he viewed as an attempt to induce military insubordination.

“The Democrats and Fake News Media subversively implied that President Trump had issued illegal orders to service members,” the website states, asserting that every order issued by the President has been lawful.

Beyond the weekly features, the site hosts a permanent “Hall of Shame.” This section targets a wide array of legacy media organizations, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, USA Today, and MSNBC (referred to on the site as MSNOW). The administration applies various labels to these outlets, ranging from “circular reporting” and “mischaracterization” to “left-wing lunacy.”

The launch of the website comes amid significant legal and reputational disputes between Trump and major media corporations.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) recently issued a formal apology to the President following the release of a dossier exposing editorial issues in a documentary. The network admitted to splicing clips of Trump’s Jan. 6 speech—originally 54 minutes apart—to create a narrative suggesting he encouraged the Capitol riot. The fallout led to the resignation of two top BBC officials and a pledge that the documentary would not air again.

Domestically, the President has secured settlements following high-profile defamation claims. In December 2024, Trump reached a $15 million settlement with ABC regarding comments made by “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos during an interview with Rep. Nancy Mace.

Additionally, Paramount announced in July 2025 that it had settled a lawsuit concerning the editing of a “60 Minutes” interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris.
