A 30-year-old Florida man is heading to prison for 15 years after authorities tracked his anonymous messaging accounts to uncover extensive child exploitation.
On Monday, June 8, Alexander Callison was sentenced to 15 years in the Florida Department of Corrections, which will be followed by a decade of sex offender probation. Callison faced a long list of charges, including ten counts of using a computer to solicit a minor and three counts of directing or promoting a child’s sexual performance.
He was also convicted on five counts of transmitting harmful material to minors through electronic devices and two counts of possessing child sexual abuse material.
The case against him began unfolding a year ago. On June 4, 2025, the Gainesville Police Department served a search warrant at Callison’s home. The search was triggered by several “CyberTips” sent by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Those alerts pointed to someone using the KIK messaging app to hold illegal material and send it to underage victims. Gainesville Police Detective Donna Montague investigated the tips and ultimately tied the digital accounts directly to Callison.
Following the sentencing, police issued a public warning about how predators operate online. The Gainesville Police Department noted that children are actively being solicited and exploited through standard social networking and messaging apps.
“We encourage parents to have age-appropriate conversations with their children about the dangers of the internet,” the department stated. “Please be vigilant and aware of any social networking platforms your children may access.”
