LUTZ, Fla. – A New Port Richey woman checking her GPS is cited as the cause of a serious collision that sent a Tampa motorcyclist to the hospital earlier today on US-41 in Hillsborough County.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:05 AM on Saturday, October 4, 2025, near the intersection of Newberger Road. According to a preliminary report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 46-year-old woman driving a Honda Accord was traveling southbound in the center lane of US-41.
Ahead of her, a 64-year-old Tampa man was operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the same lane. The FHP report indicates that the driver of the Honda Accord became distracted while checking her GPS, failing to slow down as she approached the motorcycle.
