Locals and Visitors Invited to Experience a Cherished Summer Tradition on Florida’s Sports Coast
PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Get ready to make a splash! Pasco County’s highly anticipated Bay Scallop Season officially returns this Thursday, July 10, promising 40 days of sun-soaked adventure and family fun on the water. Running through Monday, August 18, this annual tradition invites both residents and visitors to dive into one of the region’s most cherished coastal pastimes.
“This is such a special time of year for our community,” says Executive Director Adam Thomas. “Scalloping is a fun, family-friendly adventure that brings generations together, and we’re excited to welcome everyone back for another fantastic season.”

Whether you’re a seasoned scalloping pro or eager to try it for the first time, Florida’s Sports Coast, the official Tourism Office of Pasco County, is ready to assist.

To ensure a safe and sustainable season for all, participants are reminded of key regulations and safety tips:
- Scallops can be collected by hand or with a dip net.
- The daily bag limit is 2 gallons of whole bay scallops in the shell or 1 pint of shucked meat per person.
- The daily boat limit is 10 gallons in the shell or 1/2-gallon of shucked meat.
- Always display a diver-down flag while in the water to alert nearby boaters.
