HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A 50-year-old Hernando County man will spend the rest of his life in prison after a judge handed down the maximum sentence on Thursday for a series of sex crimes involving four children.

Kevin Christopher Hanrahan was sentenced to life in the Florida Department of Corrections on December 18, 2025. The sentencing follows an October trial where a jury found him guilty of Lewd and Lascivious Conduct and four separate counts of Lewd or Lascivious Molestation of a Child Under 12.

The investigation began in January 2024, when deputies with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) received a report regarding sexual offenses involving two juveniles. Detectives interviewed the victims, who described distinct incidents of abuse.

Physical evidence played a pivotal role in the case. Because the victims were still wearing the clothing they had on during the offenses, officials were able to collect the items for forensic testing. Analysis later confirmed the presence of Hanrahan’s DNA on the inside of one victim’s shorts.

As the investigation progressed, the scope of Hanrahan’s crimes widened.

The initial victims told investigators that Hanrahan had molested others as well. This led detectives to a third and fourth victim, both of whom disclosed similar accounts of inappropriate touching.

Officials noted that the details provided by all four children were consistent with one another. This consistency, paired with the forensic DNA evidence, secured the initial arrest and supported the case presented by Assistant State Attorney Angelina Rodeo, who successfully prosecuted Hanrahan.
