Domestic Incident Leads To Shooting In Sarasota; Victim Hospitalized

SARASOTA, Fla. – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is actively investigating a shooting that occurred this morning in the 4500 block of Ottawa Trail, involving a husband and wife.

The incident, initially reported as a battery, took place around 10:08 a.m. today. Upon arrival at the scene, deputies discovered a female victim with a gunshot wound. Authorities confirmed she was conscious when they found her.

The victim’s husband was present when deputies arrived and has been detained by the SCSO. Investigators recovered a rifle, found on the ground in an outside parking area near the residence.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) quickly transported the female victim to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment. Her current condition has not been released.

Deputies secured the scene and conducted a thorough search of the residence to ensure no other victims were involved, confirming that the incident was isolated. The Sheriff’s Office has stressed that there is no ongoing danger to the general public regarding this incident.

The scene remains secured as the investigation is ongoing. The SCSO has not yet released the identity of the victim or the detained husband.
