ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Residents heading into the holiday weekend will need to adjust their routines a bit early this week. The City of St. Petersburg announced Monday that a variety of city facilities and public services will close their doors on Friday, July 3, 2026, in observance of Independence Day.
Alongside the building closures, the city is altering its residential trash and recycling schedules to accommodate the holiday timeline.
While regular Monday and Tuesday collections will experience zero interruptions, households with late-week service will see their pickup dates moved up by a full day. Routes normally handled on Thursday will be collected on Wednesday instead. Similarly, regular Friday collections will take place on Thursday.
Community members looking for specific facility details can view the complete list of closures online at www.stpete.org/HolidayClosures. The city also recommends downloading the “St. Pete Collects” smartphone application, which provides real-time route updates and sends automated notifications to residents about their local collection days.
