Double Fatality On SR-60 In Plant City After Pedestrian Strike And Rollover

PLANT CITY, Fla. – A late-night crash in Plant City claimed two lives Friday after a vehicle struck a pedestrian and overturned. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 11:25 PM on April 17 along State Road 60.

Investigators report that a 20-year-old Plant City man was driving a GMC Yukon westbound on SR-60. Just west of Horton Road, a 50-year-old woman, also from Plant City, walked into the path of the oncoming SUV.

Troopers stated that the driver attempted to take evasive action to avoid the woman, but he was unable to prevent the collision.

The impact caused the driver to lose control of the GMC Yukon. The vehicle veered off the roadway and began to overturn. During the rollover, the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that both the 50-year-old pedestrian and the 20-year-old driver sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The names of the deceased have not been released at this time as the investigation continues.
