Driver Flees After Plowing Into Scooter, Leaving Two Critical On Gulfport Blvd

GULFPORT, Fla. – Pinellas County authorities are searching for a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that left two people with life-threatening injuries Friday night.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 7:21 p.m. on November 28. Deputies from the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) say 61-year-old Michael Lynch and 42-year-old Kristen Lynch were riding an electric scooter eastbound on Gulfport Boulevard near Luana Lane South.

Investigators determined the pair was traveling in the curb lane when a vehicle struck them from behind. The driver did not stop and continued heading east.

Emergency crews from the Gulfport Police Department and Gulfport Fire Rescue arrived to find both riders lying in the roadway. They were transported to a local hospital and remain in critical condition.

Suspect Vehicle Description Investigators are asking the public to look out for a vehicle matching the following description:

  • Type: Older model SUV.
  • Damage: Heavy front-end damage.
  • Distinctive Feature: The rear driver’s side window appeared to have a triangular shape.
