MULBERRY, Fla. – A 23-year-old Bartow man was charged Wednesday night with reckless driving on SR-37 in Mulberry around 9:30 PM.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the 23-year-old Bartow man was driving northbound on SR-37, changing lanes between northbound and southbound lanes at a high rate of speed. A tractor-trailer traveling southbound on SR-37 when the Bartow man entered the southbound
lanes while attempting to pass another vehicle. As the vehicles approached each other, the tractor-trailer swerved to the shoulder to avoid a collision, at which point the Bartow man collided with the trailer portion of the truck.
The pickup truck was forced to the west shoulder of the road and collided with a tree.
The 23-year-old man suffered only minor injuries, and no other injuries were reported.
Troopers say the man was charged with reckless driving.
