A Florida man who had a bit too much to drink was arrested for burglary after he denied breaking into a house but rather broke through the house.

According to investigators, on Sunday, deputies responded to the 6200 block of Skeen Road in Suwannww County regarding a suspicious person.

The caller told deputies that he found a dirty, shirtless male on his front porch, who left and headed southbound on Skeen Road.

Deputies say they discovered a male matching the description standing outside of a disabled pickup truck, occupied by another male and a female, pulling a trailer in front of a residence in the 6800 block of Skeen Road.

The male identified himself as David Randall Dominguez, 48, from Live Oak, FL.

He told the Deputies that his truck had broken down and had been there all night and that the male sitting in the truck was his uncle, and the female was his mother, whom he claimed he called to help him with his mechanical issues.

While the Deputies were speaking to the trio, a deputy noticed that a window was broken out in the front of the house they were parked in front of.

Fresh blood was located on the shards of glass, and they noticed someone had attempted to forcibly enter the front door, causing over $1,000 worth of damage to the door and frame.

Deputies then began interviewing David, his uncle, and his mother.

“As expected, they told all sorts of stories and denied having anything to do with the damage to the house,” said SCSO. “David’s uncle said he was with David all night, and he didn’t see David damage the house because it was dark outside; however, he did see David walk to the rear of the house.”

Deputies also noticed that David had fresh, jagged lacerations on his elbow, which he claimed he sustained the during a fight the night before. He emphatically denied having anything to do with the broken window or trying to force the door open, investigators say.

“While the Deputies were collecting evidence at the scene, including voluntary DNA samples from David, which will be sent to the FDLE Crime Lab for comparison to the blood on the broken window,” said SCSO.

David then told investigators that he did go up on the front porch of the house while he was drunk, and he stumbled into the window, unintentionally breaking it. But again, David claimed he wasn’t trying to break in.

Based on the totality of the circumstances and the evidence collected, David was arrested. He was transported to the Suwannee County Jail, where he has been charged with Burglary.
