MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 42-year-old Dunedin man is behind bars today following a chaotic scene on U.S. 1 where authorities say he narrowly missed hitting two pedestrians during a high-speed maneuver.

The incident unfolded around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30, near Mile Marker 82. According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies observed Luca Brandi speeding on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Reports indicate Brandi was using the center lane to pass traffic illegally when the ride took a dangerous turn.

Two pedestrians were forced to scramble out of the way as the motorcycle barreled toward them. To avoid striking the pair, Brandi reportedly swerved directly into the path of oncoming traffic.

Despite the close call, authorities confirmed there were no injuries.

Deputies stopped Brandi and took him into custody, charging him with reckless driving. His Harley-Davidson was towed from the scene, and he was booked into the county jail shortly after the stop.
