CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR) responded to a destructive residential fire on W. Evita Lane in Dunnellon on Saturday evening.
At approximately 8:04 p.m., firefighters arrived to find a 2,500-square-foot home fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters say an immediate threat was posed by a nearby recreational vehicle, which required action from the arriving crews to protect it from the intense heat and fire spread.
Crews from multiple stations quickly collaborated to attack the blaze. Their combined efforts successfully brought the fire under control by 8:45 p.m., effectively preventing the spread of the flames beyond the immediate property line and saving the threatened RV.
During the operation, one dog was safely removed from the residence, and thankfully, no injuries were reported among residents or emergency personnel.
The fire was determined to be unintentional. The homeowner informed investigators that they had a fire in the fireplace earlier in the evening and had also been experiencing electrical issues throughout the day. Unfortunately, the structure and its contents sustained catastrophic damage and are considered a total loss.
