ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – An e-bike rider was killed Thursday night after being struck by a car at the intersection of 66th Street South and 18th Avenue North, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department (SPPD).

The fatal collision occurred just after 8 p.m. The SPPD reported that a black Ford Focus was traveling southbound on 66th Street South in the center lane.

At the same time, a black e-bike, operated by 46-year-old Shannon White, was attempting to travel westbound across 66th Street North. The investigation determined that White failed to follow the traffic signal and did not use the marked crosswalk when he entered the path of the oncoming Ford Focus.
