Faulty Exhaust Fan Sparks Blaze, Leaving 14 Without Homes In Clearwater

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Investigators have traced the cause of this morning’s fire at 509 N. Fort Harrison Ave. to an electrical fault in a second-story bathroom exhaust fan. Clearwater Fire & Rescue crews initially responded to the scene just after 6 a.m.

The incident has displaced 14 residents from the multi-family building. The American Red Cross and the property owner are currently stepping in to assist those affected. One person was taken to Morton Plant Hospital earlier as a precaution.

Authorities have closed North Fort Harrison Avenue near the scene and are urging drivers to avoid the area and find alternate routes for the time being.
