LUTZ, Fla. — A residential home was engulfed in flames early Tuesday morning in Lutz, but all occupants escaped safely before emergency crews arrived, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.
Dispatchers began receiving multiple 911 calls at approximately 3:10 a.m. reporting a fire in a wooded area near 1401 Julie Lagoon. Callers noted seeing flames through the trees but were initially unable to identify what was burning.
The first arriving unit found a large house fully involved in fire. Firefighters immediately set up a defensive attack, focusing on stopping the flames from spreading to neighboring houses while waiting for backup units to arrive.
Crews ran into water supply issues due to the property’s location. To keep a steady stream of water on the building, firefighters had to set up rural water tanker operations, shuttling water directly to the scene.
Despite the water challenges, crews were able to search the unburned sections of the structure to ensure no one was trapped inside. The homeowner confirmed to first responders that everyone living in the house had gotten out safely before fire trucks arrived.
No civilians or firefighters were injured during the incident.
Crews stayed on the scene Tuesday morning to put out remaining hot spots and clear debris. The Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Fire Investigations Unit has started looking into what caused the blaze.
