HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A Ruskin teenager was seriously injured this morning after a violent, high-speed crash on State Road 674. The crash occurred around 4:20 AM on Saturday.

Florida Highway Patrol investigators say the 18-year-old was heading eastbound in a Ford F-150 when things went south just west of Cortaro Drive.

According to troopers, the truck was moving at a high rate of speed when the driver suddenly lost control.

In a jarring twist, the force of the rollover ejected the teen from the cab. However, he didn’t hit the pavement; instead, he was thrown directly into the bed of his own truck before the vehicle finally stopped moving.

Emergency crews arrived on the scene to find the driver with serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Troopers have not yet released the driver’s name or confirmed if alcohol played a factor in the crash, noting only that the investigation into the high-speed accident is ongoing.
