HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Actor and comedian Faizon Love was arrested in Florida on Tuesday, June 16, and is currently facing contempt charges.
Online jail records indicate that the 58-year-old actor was booked into the Falkenburg Road Jail facility. TMZ was the first media outlet to report the booking. Records show that Love, who resides in Glendale, California, is currently being held without bond.
While law enforcement has not detailed the exact actions that triggered the contempt charges, separate legal filings show recent activity surrounding the actor. On June 11, a woman named Tiffany Lee officially reopened a declaration-of-paternity case involving Love. Court documents do not outline what connection, if any, that paternity case has to his Tuesday arrest.
Love is widely recognized for his prominent comedic roles, including playing the store manager in the holiday movie Elf alongside Will Ferrell and starring in the comedy Couples Retreat.
This is not the actor’s only recent tie to court proceedings. Love previously launched a lawsuit against Universal Studios, alleging that the movie studio whitewashed the international promotional posters for Couples Retreat by removing him and his co-star from the advertisements.
No court dates or release terms have been set at this time.
