In a wide-ranging interview that covered everything from Arctic security to Saudi Arabian mega-projects, Eric Trump offered a blunt assessment of the global landscape, warning that the West “can’t be babies” regarding Greenland while tearing into Europe’s regulatory environment.

Speaking to Tom Burges Watson on Al Arabiya English’s The Riyal Deal, the Executive Vice President of The Trump Organization suggested his father’s administration would be uncompromising when it comes to securing American and Western interests in the Arctic.

“We can’t be naive. We can’t pretend something that is happening isn’t happening,” Trump said, citing the militarization of the region and opening northern sea routes. “I think my father will ultimately do what it takes if required.”

While the comments on Greenland hinted at a more aggressive foreign policy, his assessment of the Middle East was strikingly positive—especially when contrasted with his view of Europe. Trump, who manages properties in Scotland and Ireland and noted his mother was European, described the continent as “backward-looking” and bogged down by obstructionism.

“Europe has lost its way,” he told Watson. “Everything’s a no. Everything’s a struggle… Everything is incredibly difficult.”

By comparison, he lauded the business climate in the Gulf, specifically praising Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Oman for their efficiency and “explosive growth.”

“This is a region that looks forward. It doesn’t look backward,” Trump said. “You’re not going to have obstructionists that obstruct for no purpose whatsoever.”

The interview also touched on the Trump Organization’s partnership with Dar Global and CEO Ziad El Chaar, with whom they are developing projects in Jeddah, Riyadh, and Oman. The pair discussed innovations in the sector, including real estate tokenization, which El Chaar framed as a way to open foreign direct investment to a broader global market.

Perhaps most surprisingly, Trump didn’t rule out future business in Iran, framing his father as a “peacetime president” who wants stability in the region.

“I would love it,” Trump said when asked about expanding to Iran. “Iran’s got amazing people… hopefully that situation works itself out in a way that’s beneficial not only to Iran as a country… but clearly the entire Middle East.”
