PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – With extremely cold air lingering across the region, Pasco County officials are activating emergency plans to ensure residents have a warm place to sleep. The county announced Monday that cold weather shelters will be open on both the east and west sides of the county for two nights starting Tuesday.
The shelters will be available on the nights of Tuesday, December 30, and Wednesday, December 31. Doors at both locations will open at 6 p.m. and remain open until 10 a.m. the following morning.
County officials are urging anyone without adequate housing or heating to take advantage of these facilities, as the expected conditions could be dangerous for those exposed to the elements for extended periods.
